The Chook Family - Pleasanton - Family Portrait

I had so much fun with the Chook Family!  It was a scorcher the day we met, so we did most of their photos under the shade.  I had fun getting to know the boys as well as trying my best to get a smile out of their daughter.  Have a look at some of my favorites from their session!

Carl & Kristy - Engagement Session - San Jose

If you had no idea how I decided on my business name, this next session will give you a little insight to the name, Urban Shutter Bug Photography.  When I decided on business names I wanted something that would embody beautiful subjects in urban locations.  When I first chatted with Carl and Kristy they wanted a more downtown urban feel for their engagement session.  So that’s just what I gave them.

Carl, Kristy and I explored downtown San Jose.  We explored nooks and crannies, busy streets, and parking lots.  I am very happy with how their session came out.  It screams Urban Shutter Bug Photography!

They met twelve years ago in college and Kristy explains that she stalked Carl until she caught his eye.  Fast forward to the proposal where Carl took a more practical move and presentented Kristy with a convertible instead of a ring (she later received one of those too).  I enjoyed learning so much about these two love birds.  Enough with the words, on to the photos!

Was fun hanging out with Nina and hearing all about her musical interest.  She is an entertainment sales rep in the bay area.  Nina needed new head shots for her social presence and I was so glad I could help out!  Here are a few of my favorites.  Can’t wait to check them out on her Linkedin and Facebook pages.

Abel & Leticia - Surprise Proposal - Milpitas CA

People always ask, why do I love being a photographer.  Well, its because I get to meet amazing families, couples, babies, companies etc who need me to document something special that is happening in their lives.  I get to document a moment in their lives that they will come back to over and over again when they look at their photos.  For me, being a photographer is even more special when I get to document the lives of people I know.

Abel and I went to middle and high school together many many moons ago.  We reconnected on facebook (just like everyone these days).  I was so happy when he emailed to ask if I would document his proposal to Leticia.  I was all for it, because I love surprises (when they’re not happening to me!).  We met at one of my favorite parks in Milpitas, and I treated the session just like a regular portrait session so Leticia wouldn’t get any kind of hints!

I Started the session off getting them in front of the camera one at a time, so that the other could tell me about the person I was shooting.  Abel is still the same quiet guy with the sweet smile:

I got to learn about Leticia, her love for old school hip hop, sports and amazing fashion sense.

We walked around the park,  I told a few jokes, got them to tell me about their first date and the things they like to do together.

You can tell these two are very much into each other.

While Leticia went to touch up her makeup, Abel and I discussed how and when he would propose.  I had them move over to a cozy little bench and asked them to tell me when they first knew it was love.

After a quick trip down memory lane, they got quiet and I knew Abel was about to pop the question!  I moved back a few feet and captured the following frames.

After all the hugs and kisses, I congratulated the two and got some shots of the newly engaged couple.  Check out the next few shots of Leticia, she is GLOWING and looks so very happy.

Thanks Abel and Leticia for allowing me to be apart of something so wonderful!  It was a great way to end 2011.  I hope I get an invite to the wedding! :)
